We’re Karly and Cooper, co-founders of Mauka. We started Mauka during our senior year of high school with one simple idea: to create jewelry that could keep up with the lifestyle we love — surfing, traveling, and living by the ocean.
Every trip to Hawaii, we’d pick up a bracelet as a memento. Over time, those bracelets became reminders of our favorite memories: the waves we caught, the sunsets we watched, and the adventures we had. That tradition sparked the idea for Mauka.
Hawaiian word meaning “toward the mountains.” To us, it represents more than direction — it’s about balance. The coast and the mountains, land and sea, adventure and home.
What began as a handful of hand-braided bracelets has now grown into a brand carried in multiple retail stores across California. Along the way, we’ve sold thousands of bracelets to people who share our love for the coast and adventure. What excites us most is the community that has formed around Mauka — people who wear our jewelry as daily reminders of their journeys, friendships, and experiences.
